I’m going to address something on all your minds.🤔

Hussle Culture.

Consider this…

Is it worth it?❓❓❓

Hmm...

Anything worth doing requires great dedication, right?

Yet, at what cost?

The cost of our health, our relationships, our time? 

Personally, I love the hustle.

I love the feeling, that I get when I'm working hard towards a goal, and I'm being pushed by the momentum to reach that goal.

Yet, I also, know what it's like to go with the flow and choose my actions based on the best duty of the moment.

Recently, I took some time away from the hustle to take care of myself, to slow down the work schedule, to celebrate the Easter season, and to spend extra time with my precious family for Spring break.

If you're into the hustle, good on ya, but understand that which will endure.

It's our service, our hearts, and our dedication to our duties.🧡

And many times, that duty is not what we think, or what we would like to choose in the moment.

Perhaps, you're a business owner or entrepreneur, but you are also a parent, an adult child caring for a parent, or a friend needed to assist another friend in need.

Now, imagine how the constant hustle impacts your life.

At the pinnacle of your hustle, your work, you discover that there's a deeper meaning found in other areas of life.

Thus, take time this weekend to reevaluate how you serve, how you love, how you dedicate your life.🙏

☑️The past is in the past.

☑️We can, and should, learn from it.

☑️And cherish the memories made!

☑️The future is tomorrow, and its not guaranteed.

Spend time outside, run that race, finish that project, make those delicious pancakes, write that letter, read that book, reach out to that old friend, DO that thing, that you've been putting off!🥞

Don't let "busyness" be a cop-out for living life!

Something a lot of people don't know about me is:

I have a background in nursing!🧡

I worked in a nursing home, as a nurses aide and in client's homes, as a homecare provider.

When I was training in university, I spent time on a medical-surgical floor.🚑

One day, my teacher placed me with a particular patient.

Let's call him, Joe.

Joe was an older gentleman, about 50 years my senior. Calling him a gentleman was being kind.

He was rude.
He was difficult.
He was irritable.
Joe was downright mean.😠

Of course, you know me, Miss Kind.

How the heck was I supposed to deal with this guy?

When I tried to care for Joe, he would grumble and cuss.

Clearly, he was in the hospital for a reason.
Joe was unwell.

I had to maneuver him and coax him into letting me take his vitals.

Just then, a food service worker delivered his lunch.🍲

Joe complained to me, "I'm not going to eat that sh*t!"

I tried to convince him, that he needed to keep up his strength.💪

Then, I said, I'm supposed to get you to use the washroom post-operation.

After he reluctantly agreed to get up, I calmly braced him, as he transitioned from the bed.

He suddenly had an accident on the floor.

Nervously, Joe bumped the side table, knocking his food tray, causing the boiled egg to roll off the plate, and plop in the mess on the floor.🥚

I said, "Well, now your meal really is sh*t."

And with that, Joe began roaring with laughter.🤣

Such a humbling moment for someone, to have their care in the hands of another.

A vulnerable and intimate experience like this, requires a particular attitude to assist someone in this state.

👉Have you ever been a patient?
👉Have you ever had to care for someone?
(A child, a spouse, an aging parent)

Did you catch that word: PATIENT

There are times in your life, in your work, in your family, where your patience will be TESTED.

Your skills will be TESTED.

You will be TESTED.

👉Are you confident in your knowledge, experience, and all that you are, to act in the moment and serve others with compassion?
👉Are you prepared to uphold the DIGNITY of each human person that you meet?

P.S. Joe wasn't rude, difficult, irritable, or mean anymore.🧡

Conversations have come a long way since the days of St. Valentine!😉

🧡February 14th is ancient history, as we're more than halfway through the second month of the year.

Yet, in Medieval history, this time signified a particular time in nature, when the birds would begin TO PAIR!🐦

Interesting concept, as I reflect on all of the businesses and individuals, that Prairie-Pro has LINKED WITH.

My favourite part of business is the opportunity to cultivate relationships along the way, especially with:

➡️The hard-working tradespeople, that have joined us throughout the years. 

➡️The diverse range of clientele, that have allowed us the honour to serve them.

➡️And the numerous others - talented, accomplished, & professional men and women - with whom we have had the pleasure and privilege to know.

I know Valentine's Day has passed, but we can share the love any day.

I want to express my GRATITUDE for the individuals and businesses, who (on behalf of Prairie-Pro), I get "to converse" AND "pair up" with!🧡

At the beginning of the month, I had the opportunity to attend 2 events:

The Philippines Chamber of Commerce with .

It was another snowy day in !❄️

Some areas of the city received up to 30cm of snow overnight.

To my friends, that grew up in snowy climates:

👉Do you remember snow days?

Those amazing days, when schools were closed due to heavy snowfall or other extreme winter weather.

schools don't often have snow days.

But growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, we definitely did!

With the proximity to Lake Erie, we had heavy snowstorms caused by "lake effect snow." ❄️

On snowy mornings, my brothers, sisters, and I would get up early in the morning, to watch the school closings scroll across the bottom of the tv screen.

What a thrill to see our school's name!✨

And know that the forecast predicted a day of fun for us.

Monday was Family Day in Alberta, a statutory holiday.🇨🇦

Family Day was originally created to give people time to spend with their families.

And Monday was also a snowy day, a day to stay in with the family.

Yet, one thing that you don't realize as a kid are the dangers and difficulties, that may come with these "Snow Days!"

Shout out to the and all businesses, that like Prairie-Pro, provide service.❄️

It's a business, that I've been a part of for 15+ years.

It's a stressful but necessary business in a city like Calgary.

There are many businesses and homeowners, especially our aging Calgarians, that need help with this service.✨

Sending support to the men and women, who spend hours outside in this cold weather, shovelling and plowing, so that our cities are safely maintained.

Do you wake up each day and CHOOSE to be a LIGHT in the DARKNESS?💡

I woke up this morning, and it was very dark outside.

And it stayed that way for awhile.

Not to mention DARK, but it's COLD & SNOWY here in Alberta.🌨️

has been experiencing EXTREMELY COLD weather.

According to The Weather Network, "...the wind chill values of -40C (-40F) or colder are expected tonight and will continue through this week. Some areas may see wind chill values below -50C (-58F) tonight."

Brrrrr!🥶

It's one of those days (or weeks), when you wish you were a bear and could hibernate!

The following line kept going through my head this morning (from the Christmas poem, "The Night Before Christmas"):🎄

"And Ma in her kerchief
And I in my cap,
Had just settled down
To a long winter's nap."

It's a great time to rest, to wind down, to enjoy the holidays, and to refocus, as the year draws to a close.

Stop & Think about how this year has been for you personally and professionally.

In life, we experience HAPPY, POSITIVE, and BRIGHT moments!

Yet, LIFE is not complete without the DARK moments!

▶️There are SEASONS in our lives, our businesses, when we will face difficulties, challenges, and obstacles.

And our ATTITUDE matters!
