Quick one on shingle lifespans, since it comes up a lot:

— Standard asphalt shingles: 20–25 years
— Lifetime dimensional shingles: up to 50-year warranty
— Metal roofing: 30–40 years
— EPDM (rubber): 25–30 years
— Slate, clay, cement tile: 30–60 years

The number on the warranty isn't a guarantee — proper installation and attic ventilation affect all of these just as much as the material itself. A great shingle installed badly won't hit its rated lifespan. A mid-tier shingle installed right, often will.

A soffit and fascia job this time — the kind of project that doesn't get talked about much but does a lot of quiet work protecting your home.

— Material: aluminum soffit and fascia, matched to existing trim color

— The challenge: the old fascia board had hidden water damage behind it that wasn't visible until removal — caught and repaired before new material went up, not covered over
— The result: proper ventilation restored, no rot hiding behind a fresh coat of paint

This is the kind of thing a rushed job skips. We don't.

Back to Sokol for this one — a project he's brought up a few times as one of the more satisfying jobs of the year.

A full re-roof where the original deck needed more attention than expected. Instead of rushing past it, the crew slowed down, addressed it properly, and still finished on schedule.
