FIELD FRIDAY - from Seton in Southeast Calgary📍

Yohennes and crew put in a solid week for our underground division for Elan Construction.

The team completed detail excavation for storm, sanitary and sewer lines, completing a hot tap on the water line and installation of a valve assembly. A thrust block went in around the valve assembly to lock it down and stop any movement under pressure.

Oil Grit Separator (OGS) separator prep followed, ready for install next week.

School’s back in session soon. That means kids are going to be moving through zones they haven’t used all summer, and they’re not thinking about traffic. They’re thinking about being late, about friends, about anything but moving vehicles.

Please slow down. Watch extra closely. Treat every school and playground zone like someone you love is standing in it.

FIELD FRIDAY: Concrete Wheelchair Ramps at Big Rock School in the .

This week’s rainstorms didn’t make it easy, but Tony, James and Parker have been working on building out accessibility upgrades around the crosswalks near the school. Removals, subgrade prep, forms, and pouring, all completed while dodging the weather. Our concrete team handled every detail and made it look easy.

Thanks to Tony, James and Parker for the photos, and a special thanks to the concrete team for making this area more accessible for everyone this fall. Well done team 🫡

Finesse.

That’s the part nobody tells you about running an excavator. It takes a soft touch and a sharp eye, knowing exactly how much material to take, when to swing the bucket, how to place it properly.

This is a game of wits, and experience. Efficiency is measured in cubes moved per hour, and the best operators have long track records of incident free operation. When you’re moving this iron and dirt, you have to stay sharp.

Back to school shouldn’t come with issues surrounding affordability.

We’re proud to support the The Salvation Army in Canada’s Backpack Angels Program.

Our team is collecting school supplies for local students in Grades 6 through 12. With every backpack filled, results in one less thing a family has to worry about come September.

FIELD FRIDAY: World Supercross edition!

Our team has been at McMahon Stadium this week, importing and placing material, and preparing the track for the FIM World Supercross Championship World Supercross Canadian GP this Saturday.

Not familiar with World Supercross? These high energy dirtbike races take place in stadiums across the world, on unique custom built tracks specially designed for each stadium. Multiple races occur throughout the night, with riders earning points and position, chasing the overall GP win.

We hauled in clean track building material, and placed it atop plywood to protect the turf below. The course was built@to design, groomed, and is now ready to rock. Once the event is finished, our crew will be back at the stadium dismantling the track and exporting the material off site, running all night until the job is done - ready for the Calgary Stampeders to take on the BC Lions the following Thursday.

When we’re not building communities, we’re building race tracks 🤘
