🌳 A beautiful yard is good for more than just curb appeal.

Spending time around trees and green spaces can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and create a greater sense of well-being. Planting trees is an investment in your landscape and your health.

Some projects are a little more personal.

We recently helped finish this paving stone walkway just in time for the wedding of one of our former office team members.

That's one of the things we love most about living and working in a small community. Years may pass, but the relationships don't. 💕 It's pretty special to be able to lend a hand and help make someone's big day just a little bit more memorable.

🎉 Congratulations, and thank you for letting us be a small part of your celebration.

Sometimes the greenest yard isn't the one with the most grass.

This front yard started as a traditional lawn, but the homeowner was ready for a change. Out came the turf, and in went limestone boulders, a dry creek bed, Montana Rainbow Rock, Rundle stone from the Canmore quarry, and beautiful plants from Eagle Lake Nurseries.

Every property is different. Sometimes a healthy lawn is exactly the right choice. Other times, replacing high-maintenance turf with drought-tolerant plants and natural stone can reduce water use, cut maintenance, and create a landscape that's both beautiful and better suited to Alberta's climate.

At Landscape Plus, we don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all solution. The goal isn't to eliminate lawns—it's to design outdoor spaces that work for the people who live there and the environment they're live in.

So... what do you think? Love it or would you keep the grass? 😝

🌱 Taking care of your garden during the Summer heat 🌱

Just laid down some new sod? Here's a pro tip from Landscape Plus! Make sure to water it immediately and thoroughly—soak it until the ground underneath is nice and wet. Keep that ground moist, and in just 5 days, you'll start seeing those new roots grow strong! 💧🌿

🍎 The best practice for dealing with fire blight is to inspect your tree regularly for "flagging"—a small branch or shoot where the leaves suddenly wilt and turn yellow, brown, or black while the rest of the tree remains healthy.

Once you spot a flagged branch, inspect it for dark brown or black, sunken bark where the healthy wood meets the infected wood. Prune the branch at least 12 inches (30 cm) below the last visible sign of infection, cutting back toward the trunk.

☝️ Be sure to disinfect your pruning shears after every cut, as the bacteria can spread easily from one branch to another. Unfortunately, there are no sprays or chemicals that will cure an active fire blight infection.

Dispose of infected branches by burning them (where permitted) or sealing them in a bag and placing them in the garbage. Do not compost infected material. Fire blight is a bacterial disease that spreads most easily through moisture, but it can also be carried by insects, birds, and wind-driven rain.
