A stubborn lock doesn’t always mean the lock itself is failing. 🔐

Doors shift over time, hardware loosens, and everyday use can affect how everything lines up. When that happens, you may notice the key feels harder to turn, the latch starts catching, or the door needs a little extra push to close properly.

Catching those small changes early can help prevent unnecessary wear on the lock and door hardware, and often makes for a much simpler repair.

If something suddenly feels different, don’t force it. A quick inspection can help identify what’s actually causing the issue.

Calgary Lock & Safe can help diagnose the problem and get your door working the way it should.

Small door problems have a sneaky way of becoming bigger ones. 🔧

A loose strike plate, minor alignment issue, or hardware that’s starting to shift might not seem urgent at first. But every time the door is forced, slammed, or pulled into place, that extra pressure can add wear to the lock, latch, hinges, frame, and surrounding hardware.

Catching the issue early can often mean a simpler fix and help prevent a much more involved repair later.

If a door is rubbing, catching, sticking, or suddenly harder to close, it’s worth having it checked before the damage spreads.

Calgary Lock & Safe can help find the cause and recommend the right repair.

What a weekend at the Nanton Pro Rodeo! 🤠

Calgary Lock & Safe Group was proud to sponsor bullfighters Austen Meston and Dakoda Simmes while supporting the Nanton Rodeo Committee and the community behind this incredible event.

Our staff, friends and families had a fantastic time taking in the rodeo, meeting the bullfighters and being part of a weekend that celebrated Nanton’s western spirit.

A special congratulations to Dakoda as he officially retired from professional bullfighting following the rodeo. Wishing him all the best in his next chapter!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a memorable one.

Managing access across a property doesn’t need to feel complicated. 🔑

A well-planned master key system can make day-to-day access easier for property managers, maintenance teams, and other authorized staff while helping keep security organized behind the scenes.

The important part is making sure the system is designed around how your property actually operates, including who needs access, where they need it, and how that access should be controlled.

Calgary Lock & Safe can help you build a key system that keeps things simple, secure, and easier to manage.

If your key suddenly isn’t turning as smoothly as it used to, don’t ignore it. 🔑

A sticky or stiff lock can be an early sign that something in the system needs attention. The cause could be:

• A worn key
• A worn cylinder
• Dirt or debris inside the lock
• Door alignment putting pressure on the lock
• A developing hardware issue

The tricky part is that the lock itself isn’t always the problem. That’s why forcing the key usually isn’t the best move.

Catching the cause early can help prevent extra wear, a broken key, or an unexpected lockout later on.

If your lock is starting to feel different, Calgary Lock & Safe can help figure out what’s going on and recommend the right fix.

Tenant turnover is already a busy process, but security shouldn’t get lost somewhere between inspections, cleaning, paperwork, and handing over the next set of keys. 🔑

When a tenant moves out, there’s no guarantee every copy of a key comes back. Previous tenants, contractors, maintenance teams, or forgotten duplicates may still be floating around, which is why a quick security reset can make such a difference.

Before the next tenant moves in, property managers should consider:

🔐 Rekeying or changing the locks
🚪 Checking every entry point
🔢 Updating access codes and fobs
📋 Reviewing key control records
🛠️ Testing door hardware and security devices

A few proactive checks can help protect the property, give new tenants greater peace of mind, and prevent small security gaps from becoming bigger problems later.

For property managers, door hardware problems rarely stay “small” for long. A sticking lock, loose lever, failing closer, or door that won’t latch properly can quickly turn into tenant complaints, security concerns, and avoidable service calls.
High-traffic doors take a lot of daily wear, which is why routine checks and preventative maintenance matter. Keeping track of recurring issues, past repairs, rekeying, and hardware replacements can also make it easier to spot patterns before something fails completely.
A little attention now can help extend the life of your hardware, reduce disruptions, and keep tenants, staff, and contractors moving safely through the property.
Not sure which doors need attention first? Calgary Lock & Safe can help review your hardware and recommend practical next steps.

A sticky lock might seem like a small annoyance, but it can be an early sign that something isn’t quite right. 🔐
Misalignment, worn hardware, buildup, or a door that has shifted over time can all make a lock harder to use. In a business setting, that can also affect access, slow down staff, and create unnecessary headaches.
Catching the issue early can often help prevent lockouts, failed hardware, or a much bigger repair later on.
If a lock is starting to stick, drag, or feel different than usual, it’s worth having it checked.

Access needs change as your business changes. Staff come and go, roles shift, doors serve different purposes, and old fobs, cards or codes can quietly stay active longer than they should.
An access control review is a simple way to make sure the people who need access have it, the people who don’t no longer do, and your current setup still makes sense for how your building operates today.
It can also uncover gaps in permissions, reporting or outdated hardware before they turn into bigger headaches.
Better access management means better control, accountability and day-to-day efficiency.
Not sure if your current system still fits your property? Calgary Lock & Safe can help you review your options.
