As I am set to retire, I have spent lots of time reflecting on my career. I was fortunate enough to be offered a summer job at a local lumber yard after I graduated High School.
That summer job lasted over a dozen years, and during that time my boss Clarence got me hooked on woodworking. Any plans I had of University evaporated as I moved forward, aided and encouraged by my first boss.
Learning the trade, aided with his guidance, culminated with me building my first house, then setting up 10 Olympic Village houses after the ‘88 Olympics, building several houses for clients, three houses for myself, then finally choosing a path primarily on the renovation side of my trade.
Renovations have been the most rewarding aspect of construction for me. Having the pleasure to be able to take somebody’s home and transform it into something they have dreamed of has been an incredible way to spend my life. I have too many clients to mention who have supported me on multiple projects, trusting my ability to help them achieve their ultimate goal.
I would be remiss if I did not give praise to the tradesmen and suppliers I have used over my career for electrical, plumbing and heating, cabinetry, painting, stone countertops, lumber and other building materials. I have been blessed to deal with quality employees, trades and suppliers my entire career, be it in Central Alberta, British Columbia or Southern Alberta. Each of those are integral parts of a contractor’s team, regardless of how much or how little they are used.
Thank you to all who have supported my business by working for me, supplying materials, providing top quality tradesmenship or putting your faith in my abilities to build your dream. I will never forget any of you!

Extensive Interior and Exterior Renovations
“I have hired Dave Normoyle of YourDreambuilders on several occasions over the past ten years. I updated and changed the entire look of my home, these are examples of the work he performed:
- Installed new hardwood flooring throughout the main floor, stairs and upper hall;
- Removed and replaced wooden stair spindles with new posts and modern metal spindles;
- Tore down walls, stripped wallpaper, repainted and installed new baseboards and trim throughout the house;
- Completely developed the basement;
- He replaced every window in the house, including installing a large bay window in the dining room and kitchen;
- Renovated the upper level bathroom, the ensuite and the basement bathroom;
- Renovated the kitchen;
- Built a new garage, paved my driveway and rebuilt the back deck;
- Replaced the siding and soffit on the exterior;
- Added on a beautiful verandah with stone finished pillars, complete with a newly shingled roof and pergola extension.
Dave also renovated my business’ commercial office space and did a beautiful job.
Dave is a creative and perfectionist master craftsman and he guides his crew to deliver excellent work. The communication is always timely, open and honest.
