Working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors save lives!
ALL smoke/CO detectors have an expiration date - usually between 7-10 years from the date of install. Do you know if it's time to replace yours??
Most jurisdictions strongly recommend a combination smoke/carbon monoxide be installed on EVERY level of a home, not just near sleeping areas. If the detector does not clearly indicate if it's a carbon monoxide detector, chances are its smoke only!
According to the Government of Canada, it is estimated 300 deaths and 200 hospitalisations occur EVERY year in Canada from carbon monoxide poisoning.
