Occupational Health and Safety Officer working with General Construction and various trades within the scope of work/project. Assist with COR accreditation.

Developing Health and Safety Programs for your company. Hazard Assessments, Inspections, Audits. I am an Occupational Health and Safety Officer specializing in the various trades involved with construction. I am also a certified Peer Auditor through Alberta Construction Safety Association. I develop Health and Safety Programs geared to the specific jobs performed by the requesting company. Dependi

ng on the size of the company the requesting company is looking to achieve COR or SECOR accreditation. Also the number of employees for Health and Safety committee requirements. The documentation required in the development of a health and safety program; Hazard Assessments, Site Inspections, Vehicle Maintenance, WHMIS Training, Tool Box Meetings, Safety Meetings. Maintain Statistical Data for Safety Audit Process. Digital programs can be arranged however costs are higher. Working with Site Docs additional training in the digital process of the program to ensure understanding and accuracy with completing paperwork. Regardless of industry all certifying partners require a health and safety program if you want to achieve COR or SECOR. Once your program is developed, we can submit it to WCB and your certifying partner. The purpose is to enable WCB discounts offered if your company meets the standard. I can arrange necessary outsourced training: Elevated Work Platform, Fall Protection, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry Monitor, Standard First Aid Training. I will work with company owner and his employees however I answer to the company owner in the program development and training process.

This morning Workplace Violence and Harassment comes to be the topic of toolbox meetings, and safety meetings. Legislation has now mandated that Domestic Violence be included in the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy. What's being neglected?
Teachers are working by teaching. Children are working by learning. Administrative staff, working to keep the school in check. Our maintenance folks aren't just getting balls off the roof.
People; all in a vulnerable position, and some of them more vulnerable because of disabilities. Schools however identified, be it elementary, middle school, college, university; they are a workplace.
When the word "inclusive" comes up, it's about people. Regardless of Race, Religion, Age, S*x. Workplace Violence and Harassment ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY needs to be brought into the schools. It's bringing bullying up to a new level for better protection for everyone.
Teachers, (Supervisors) well, they are at the forefront of supporting this policy. Our children (workers) from a very young age do as they are told. If they have a problem/concern who can they talk to? Who is going to listen? Give them that 5 minutes to make sure they are being heard, and as the supervisor we address this issue or concern with management who are the (Administrative) staff as they are instituting this policy. Signs and positive
behavior/attitude, leading by example brings awareness to everyone.
We have a responsibility to protect our children and everyone in that building.
It's time that we train kids and teachers of this policy and being more aware of behaviors, document concerns, advise head office and not be complacent.
We need to step up right now, today.
