PROTECT YOURSELF BY INVESTIGATION
When you are looking for the right contractor to work on your home, vacation property or business you need to know your contractor to ensure you will be working with a legitimate and reliable company.
Some items to inquire about and receive a copy of are listed below and if you are not getting the right answers you need to ask yourself “WHY”.
CONTRACTOR CHECK:
A third party health and safety pre-qualification accreditation program that assesses the health and safety management systems of a contracting company

Sets Standards for ethical business behavior and monitors compliance and
helps consumers to identify trustworthy businesses.
Chances are, if you want to find out if a business is reputable, a quick Google search will tell you all you need.
WARRANTY:
Ask about warranties and make sure you receive the information on any manufactures warranties available on products used or installed on your behalf by the contractor.
REFERENCES:
Ask for references. A person puts their reputation on the line every time they make a recommendation and that person has nothing to gain but the appreciation of those who are listening. And it may not always be positive.
CONTRACT:
Get it in writing. The contract should detail the work to be done, plans if necessary, products, specifications, names of subcontractors, the way and amount you will be charged for the job and how change orders will be handled.
