We amalgamated Carnegie Landscape Developments and Carnegie Contracting into one company and re named to BROCH BUILDERS INC. Offering New home Builds, Home Warranty, Renovations and Landscape construction services.

When unemployment is high, a lot of home do it yourselfers get into renovations and building Decks and Fences.
These people will be cheaper and make it difficult for licensed, insured and bonded professionals to compete. Be Sure you don't take price before professional quality.

PROTECT YOURSELF BY INVESTIGATION
When you are looking for the right contractor to work on your home, vacation property or business you need to know your contractor to ensure you will be working with a legitimate and reliable company.
Some items to inquire about and receive a copy of are listed below and if you are not getting the right answers you need to ask yourself “WHY”.

CONTRACTOR CHECK:
A third party health and safety pre-qualification accreditation program that assesses the health and safety management systems of a contracting company

BBB
Sets Standards for ethical business behavior and monitors compliance and
helps consumers to identify trustworthy businesses.
Chances are, if you want to find out if a business is reputable, a quick Google search will tell you all you need.

WARRANTY:
Ask about warranties and make sure you receive the information on any manufactures warranties available on products used or installed on your behalf by the contractor.

REFERENCES:
Ask for references. A person puts their reputation on the line every time they make a recommendation and that person has nothing to gain but the appreciation of those who are listening. And it may not always be positive.

CONTRACT:
Get it in writing. The contract should detail the work to be done, plans if necessary, products, specifications, names of subcontractors, the way and amount you will be charged for the job and how change orders will be handled.

CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE:
A document issued by an insurance company/broker that is used to verify the existence of insurance coverage under specific conditions granted to listed individuals. More specifically, the document lists the effective date of the policy, the type of insurance coverage purchased, and the types and dollar amount of applicable liability.

WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE:

Protect yourself from the possibility of being sued by a worker on your site if there is an injury or death. Ensure the contractor has up to date coverage before any work starts. Get this at www.wcb.ab.ca under: employers / get a clearance letter

SURETY BOND:

A bond issued by a surety bond company on behalf of a contractor, guaranteeing that the contractor will complete a contract as per the specifications (contract). The bond must match the descriptions and dates etc. shown on the contract it is guaranteeing
