The Calgary Folk Music Festival runs July 23rd to 26th and we are proud to be returning as a stage sponsor.
Stay tuned over the coming days as we showcase some of the amazing artists who will be playing on our stage.
Next up in the spotlight is L.T. Leif. Originally from Calgary, musician, artist and community builder L.T. Leif has spent more than a decade living in far-flung lands and now hails from Scotland.
An open-hearted musical collaborator whose projects include beloved Calgary band the Consonant C (with members of Hermitess and Raleigh, who are also appearing at this year’s festival and are also playing on the Horizon Heating Stage), Leif has continued to collect co-conspirators in each of their new locales. More importantly though, the farther they’ve roamed the more room they’ve found to discover themself.
Since leaving Calgary they’ve turned that eye inward, asking difficult questions and refusing to settle for simple answers. Their music has grown equally singular: rooted in folk, often built around hypnotic melodies played on their trusty ukulele, but fractured by strange textures and bursts of noise. Leif has always favoured the rough-hewn and handmade, and their music is the same: inviting, imaginative, but always wild at heart.
You can catch Leif perform on the Horizon Heating Stage as part of The Eh Team collaboration on Sunday July 26th at 10:30am, and also their full concert right afterwards at 12:30.
The Horizon Heating Stage is a free stage located just outside the main festival entrance and is accessible to anyone. Look for the signs and come on down during the day on Saturday and Sunday.
Come on down and say hi!
