Today, we're proud to recognize Brett, one of our 2025 Indigenous Bursary recipients.

A member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Brett completed his Bachelor of Science before returning to school to pursue his MBA. He has also recently submitted his application for his Professional Geoscientist designation with APEGA.

While balancing work, school, and becoming a first-time father, the Primary Indigenous Student Bursary helped ease the financial burden, allowing him to focus on both his family and his education.

As Brett shares:

"During this time I was juggling school, work, and becoming a father. This bursary allowed me to comfortably go on parental leave to help support my partner, while also maintaining my class workload by assisting in the cost of tuition and books. I would not have been able to financially handle all of these moving parts without the support of Primary Engineering and Construction."

Our 2025 Indigenous Bursary recipients are building bright futures, and today, we're proud to spotlight Nelson.

A Métis student, Nelson is continuing his post-secondary education at the University of Victoria while pursuing his career goals. Since receiving the bursary, he has also secured a summer co-op position in Vancouver, with the bursary helping to offset living expenses along the way.

As a recipient of the bursary, Nelson shares:

"This bursary has eased the financial burden of my education and allowed me to focus on achieving my dream of becoming an engineer."

Outside of his studies, Nelson enjoys mountain biking and spending time outdoors, where he stays active and connects with friends and his community.

Meet Aiden, one of our 2025 Indigenous Bursary recipients!

A member of Oneida Nation of the Thames, Aiden is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with the goal of building a career in Alberta's engineering industry. As a newcomer to the province, he has enjoyed exploring Alberta's landscapes, especially hiking in Banff, while continuing to grow his knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.

As Aiden shares:
"This bursary represents more than just financial support; it's a vote of confidence in my potential as a future engineer. I am incredibly grateful to the donors for investing in my education and helping me take the next steps toward making a meaningful impact in the electrical engineering field."

Throwing it back to last year’s Ride for Flights! 🏍️✨

Last year we welcomed roughly 50 riders and 30 visitors for a fun-filled day of food, prizes, music, motorcycles, and more.

And the best part? Together, we raised over $18,000 for STARS Ambulance!

Each year, this event continues to grow, and it would not be possible without the support of our amazing sponsors, riders, volunteers, and supporters. Thank you to everyone who helped make last year’s event such a success!

Last year, the Ride for Flights community came together for an unforgettable day of riding, fundraising, and supporting a cause that impacts communities across Western Canada.

From the scenic motorcycle ride through Alberta to the BBQ, silent auction, door prizes, live music, and 50/50 draw, riders, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters helped make a meaningful difference.

Primary is proud to host our 6th annual Ride for Flights Motorcycle Rally and Poker Run in support of STARS Air Ambulance.

Join us on Saturday, August 8, 2026, for a day of motorcycles, community, fundraising, live music, food, and fun, all in support of a service that provides lifesaving care to rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Western Canada.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2026 Indigenous Student Bursary. Applications are being accepted from now until August 1, 2026.

At Primary, we recognize the importance of building relationships and creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous communities. The Primary Indigenous Student Bursary is part of our commitment to supporting increased representation within the engineering, design, and construction sectors.

The bursary is open to full-time Indigenous students across Canada at any stage of their post-secondary education who are enrolled in programs aligned with our work, including powerline technology, electrical engineering, design, design-build, drafting, and related fields.

Five students will each receive a $2,000 bursary to support their studies for the upcoming fall semester.

At Primary, we recognize the importance of creating meaningful capacity-building opportunities for Indigenous communities. We are committed to supporting the advancement of underrepresented groups within the engineering, design, and construction sectors.

This bursary is open to full-time Indigenous students across Canada at any stage of their post-secondary education who are enrolled in programs aligned with our work, including:
🔹Powerline Technicians (PLTs)
🔹Electrical Engineering
🔹Design / Design-Build
🔹Drafting and related fields

Five students will each receive a $2,000 bursary to support their studies for the upcoming fall semester.
