⚡ PEI ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS: There’s more than one way to get electrical service underground.
When it comes to installing underground electrical, the traditional approach is often to bring in an excavator, dig a trench, install the conduit or cable, and then put everything back together.
It works. But sometimes there’s a better option.
That’s where Horizontal Directional Drilling, or HDD, comes in. 👇
With HDD, we can drill underground and install the required conduit or pipe with far less surface disruption than traditional trenching.
Think about the difference from your customer’s point of view.
🔨 Excavation means digging up the yard
🌱 Disturbing grass, landscaping and gardens
🚜 Moving a lot of material
🕳️ Leaving an open trench during the work
🧹 More cleanup and restoration afterward
With HDD:
➡️ Much less digging at the surface
➡️ Less disruption to landscaping and finished areas
➡️ No long open trench
➡️ Less material to excavate and move
➡️ A cleaner job site
➡️ A much happier homeowner
And let’s be honest… your employees might have an opinion about this too. 😂
Given the choice between spending the day digging, shoveling and backfilling a trench, or having the HDD crew handle the underground installation with minimal disturbance to the property…
I have a pretty good idea which one they’re voting for. 😉
HDD can be an especially useful option when you need to get underground electrical service beneath driveways, lawns, landscaping, paved areas or other obstacles.
It isn’t the right solution for every project, but it’s absolutely worth considering before the excavator arrives.
⚡ Electrical contractors, if you have an upcoming project where trenching could create a lot of disruption, give Eastern Drilling Services a call. Let’s see if HDD makes sense for the job.
And homeowners, here’s your homework:

👉 Send it to your electrical contractor.
