I want to give a pat on the back to all the hard working tradespeople out there. Whether you work for yourself or for someone. As I pull into my driveway at 11:22pm, the 3rd night in a row I've come home around this time, I wonder how many others are doing the same. We're not working late for fun, it's because we need to. We need to get our phase of a project done so other trades can keep the ball rolling. We need to get a job finished cause we have bills to pay.
I know night owl tradespeople like myself go unnoticed. My neighbors and customers see me go down my road after 8am and probably think "Geez, not too speedy in the morning" or " It's about time you got to the job". Meanwhile, here I am driving by their house and it's in darkness and they're in bed.
So if your on a job right now and saying " I'll go once I finish this next task", just know I see you. I see you putting in the hours. I see you missing time with family. I see you getting calls at the 8pm bedtime from a crying kid cause your not home to read a book. I see you and pat you on the back for a job well done. Yeah, we'll still be so far behind on jobs tomorrow it won't be funny but that's tomorrow's problem.
