This fireplace transformation completely changed the feeling of the home.

The original feature wall was dominated by oversized tile and dark built-ins that made the space feel heavy despite the soaring ceilings. Our goal was to create a focal point that felt warm, architectural, and timeless.

By replacing the tile with a soft plaster finish, introducing vertical walnut slat detailing, adding a floating wood mantel, and designing a clean concrete hearth with integrated LED lighting, the fireplace became a quiet statement piece. Every material was chosen to add texture and warmth while maintaining the home's modern aesthetic.

Sometimes the most impactful renovations aren't about changing the layout, they're about reimagining the details that define a space.

Design highlights:
• Textured plaster fireplace surround
• Custom walnut slat feature walls
• Solid wood floating mantel
• Cast concrete hearth with concealed LED lighting
• Warm, modern material palette

Some buildings tell the story of a town and 28 Roberts Street is one of them.
Built in the early 1900’s, this historic storefront has been a part of downtown Ladysmith for well over a century. Standing on Roberts Street, it has witnessed the town’s evolution from a bustling coal mining community to the vibrant, welcoming place we know today.
Over the years, the building has adapted with the changing needs of the community while maintaining its place in Ladysmith’s historic downtown. Today, we’re honoured to give it a thoughtful refresh alongside Collaborative Build, preserving its character while preparing for its next chapter.
Every layer uncovered during the renovation reminds us that we’re not just restoring a building, we’re continuing a legacy that has connected generations of Ladysmith residents.
Here’s to respecting the past, investing in the future, and celebrating the history that makes our community so special.

Your entryway sets the tone for your entire home.
It’s the first space that welcomes you in at the end of a long day and the first impression guests experience when they arrive.
For this project, a custom slat wall feature added warmth, texture, and a sense of intention, transforming a simple pass through space into a memorable arrival experience.
