🌿 Tzeachten Affordable Housing: Community-Centered On-Reserve Living 🏡✨

We are proud to highlight Tzeachten Affordable Housing—a residential development thoughtfully designed to kindle community connection and respond directly to the needs of Tzeachten First Nation members.

Through extensive collaboration and engagement with band leadership and members, this project translates community vision into functional, supportive living:

Community Gathering Anchor: The apartments and row housing are oriented around a central community gathering structure that opens directly onto an open greenscape and borders an environmentally protected zone 🌳🏛️.

Intergenerational Living: Built to support Tzeachten’s many young families, the majority of units cater to family life, complemented by two ground-level Elder suites seamlessly interwoven into the neighborhood 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🤝.

Connected to Vital Amenities: The development is supported by nearby Tzeachten services—including a new Long House, band offices, sports fields, and community gardens 🌱⚽.

Designing purpose-built spaces that strengthen community bonds and respect the surrounding land is at the core of what we do.

🏔️ Elevating University Living: Design with a View 📐✨

We are proud to look back on this completed multi-residential project—Rockcliffe Condos & Liberty Pointe Apartments—two contemporary buildings thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the surrounding campus community and celebrate breathtaking landscape vistas!

Taking full advantage of a prime location overlooking the valley, the Thompson River, and the surrounding mountains, the design weaves modern innovation, campus guidelines, and human-scale architecture into a lasting community experience:

Designed for the Views: Generous private decks and an expansive top-floor common amenity deck on each building ensure residents make the absolute most of panoramic, northern valley views 🌄🌿.

Contextual & Timeless Aesthetic: Guided by university neighbourhood design standards, the exterior showcases a sophisticated palette of timeless materials, balanced proportions, and large windows that flood interior spaces with natural daylight 🪟✨.

Human-Scale Stepped Massing: To respect the pedestrian realm and complement neighbouring university architecture, the top floors were subtly stepped back—reducing massing while opening up expansive outdoor amenity space above 🏛️.

Designing vibrant, context-driven spaces that connect people to each other and their natural surroundings for years to come is at the core of what we do.

🌿 A Social Heart of Maple Ridge: Albion Community Centre 🏛️✨

We’re proud to highlight the Albion Community Centre—a 20,000 SF facility serving as a vibrant social hub for the growing Maple Ridge community!

Modernizing the traditional community hall form, we wove sustainability, accessibility, and connection directly into its architectural fabric:

Connected Community Hub: Adjacent to a concurrently designed elementary school, the site features a shared plaza, outdoor amphitheater, and daycare play area. This layout maximizes shared indoor/outdoor programming while eliminating redundant footprints.

Building as an Educational Tool: Designed to showcase sustainable practices, the facility combines passive and active energy-saving strategies—including solar panels, a green roof, and EV charging—turning the architecture itself into a live learning resource.

Nature-Inspired Aesthetic: With natural exterior materials and a living green roof, the building aesthetically blends into its surroundings, appearing as though it rises right out of the ground 🌱.

Fully Accessible & Flexible: Awarded an accessibility grant, all spaces are functional for all users. Multi-use rooms flex for everything from yoga to art, alongside a large Great Hall for major events and productions.

Designing flexible, eco-conscious spaces that empower communities to gather long into the future is at the core of what we do.

🌿We had the privilege of designing the innovative, 21st-century learning features for Minnekhada Middle School, tailoring the new spaces specifically to the needs of School District 43 students, administrators, and staff. Through an extensive series of design collaborations with local educators, our team focused on translating practical teaching goals into a functional, modern reality.📐✨

Rather than sticking to a traditional layout, we introduced features designed to support modern, collaborative teaching styles:

Centralized Collaboration over Isolation: Rather than dividing the school into smaller, isolated learning pods, the spatial configuration centers on flexible, collaborative breakout areas directly in the core of the building.

Adaptable Classroom Connections: Educators emphasized the need for daily versatility. In response, classrooms are built with the flexibility to open directly onto the main central commons for active projects, while still allowing teachers to easily close them off for quiet, focused instruction.

A Concept Rooted in Growth: The physical form and "Parti" of the building reflect the dynamic growth of the middle school age group. Mimicking a fresh sprout breaking through the soil, the rooflines thrust upward at varied angles towards the core of the school 🌱🏢.

Investing in these flexible, naturally inspired connections is how we help modern learning communities thrive.

🏛️ Celebrating The Paramount: Community, Innovation, and Intergenerational Housing

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the ongoing impact of The Paramount in Chilliwack! This groundbreaking, mixed-use facility is a true testament to what can happen when purposeful design meets community need.

The Paramount represents a provincial first—giving our team the incredibly unique opportunity to design intergenerational affordable housing specifically tailored for seniors and youth who were formerly in care.

✨ A Look Inside the Space:
Lower levels: A vibrant community centre operated by Chilliwack Community Services, offering vital public programming, including language classes, counselling services, and immigration resources.

Upper levels: Several levels of subsidized housing built to foster connection, security, and a strong sense of belonging between generations.

From welcoming Premier David Eby for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony to joining eager local visitors for a public tour of the facility, seeing these spaces come alive has been incredibly rewarding. We are honored to have played a role in shaping a building that doesn't just house people, but truly wraps around them with support and connection.

🍁Our team celebrated Canada Day with a little friendly competition that put our design minds to the test! We challenged everyone to an "Eh-Quiz" all about Canadian architecture.

With twenty-five questions covering Canada’s architectural history, iconic buildings, and legendary design professionals, it quickly became clear this wasn’t built for speed – it was built for thinkers! A big congrats to our three lucky winners, 🥇Sehr, 🥈Chris & 🥉Isioma! And a huge shout-out to everyone who jumped in with enthusiasm, curiosity, and competitive spirit. Proving once again that a little friendly competition is always a good foundation for team fun.🙌✨

We’re so proud to celebrate the places, people, and architecture that help shape this incredible country. We hope everyone had a safe and happy Canada Day!🏛️

☀️ We're soaking in those summer vibes! 📐✨

While the Summer Solstice may have technically passed a few days ago, we are still riding the wave of the longest days of the year. We are constantly inspired by how daylight transforms the spaces we build, but lately, we’ve been stepping out of the studio to celebrate the ultimate designer: nature. 🌿🏛️

For our team, this season is all about embracing the outdoors and enjoying those bright, sun-drenched evening vibes. Whether you’re relaxing in a beautifully designed public park, firing up the patio BBQ with neighbors, or catching a late sunset on a river's edge, we hope you’ve been taking some extra time to enjoy the sunshine this week.

Here's to making the most of every single golden hour ahead! 🕶️🌅

🏘️🧡The Hearthstone Place Low Barrier Supportive Housing facility provides 30 fully contained supportive housing suites to accommodate homeless men in Abbotsford. Each studio suite includes a washroom, living room/sleeping room and kitchen to support fully independent tenancies. A fireplace lounge and convenience kitchen on the main floor provides group amenity areas.

Multiple meetings (sometimes twice per week) were held with the client in close succession to understand their programming needs and incorporate them into a rapidly changing floor layout. Station One assisted with two public consultations and further refined the exterior aesthetics to city planning comments. Our in-house landscape design team allowed a fast and coordinated response time for resolving all design related issues holistically. Our partnership with a design-build/construction managed organization allowed the budget to be updated quickly with final pricing determined and finalized. As this project contract was set up as ‘design-build’ the project remained within the contractual budget not to be exceeded.
