✨ Choosing the Perfect Faucet: More Than Just Looks ✨

A beautiful faucet can completely transform the look and feel of a bathroom, but there are a few things to consider before making your selection.

πŸ”Ή Style & Design
Choose a finish and style that complements the overall design of your space. Popular finishes include matte black, brushed nickel, chrome, and gold.

πŸ”Ή Functionality
Consider who will be using the space. Single-handle faucets offer convenience, while widespread faucets can create a more traditional or luxury appearance.

πŸ”Ή Quality Matters
Not all fixtures are created equal. Investing in a quality faucet can mean better performance, easier maintenance, and a longer lifespan.

πŸ”Ή Water Efficiency
Look for fixtures designed to conserve water without sacrificing performance.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long should a quality faucet last?
A: A well-made faucet can last 15–20 years or more with proper maintenance.

Q: Does a more expensive faucet make a difference?
A: Often, yes. Higher-quality fixtures typically have better internal components, improved durability, and longer manufacturer warranties.

Q: What finish is easiest to maintain?
A: Brushed nickel tends to hide fingerprints and water spots better than many other finishes.

Q: Can I replace just the faucet without renovating the entire bathroom?
A: Absolutely! Updating fixtures is one of the simplest ways to refresh the look of a bathroom.

Whether you're building new, renovating, or simply updating a fixture, selecting the right faucet is a balance of style, function, and quality.

What's this? Bonus points if you know what it does!

πŸ’§ What is a PRV? πŸ’§

A PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) is a device installed on your home's water service that regulates the incoming water pressure.

Many municipal water systems deliver water at pressures that are higher than what your home's plumbing system is designed to handle. A PRV reduces that pressure to a safe, consistent level, helping to protect:

βœ” Plumbing fixtures
βœ” Faucets and toilets
βœ” Water heaters
βœ” Appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines
βœ” Pipes and fittings throughout your home

Signs your PRV may need attention include:
πŸ”Ή Excessively high water pressure
πŸ”Ή Banging or noisy pipes
πŸ”Ή Leaking faucets or fixtures
πŸ”Ή Shortened appliance life
πŸ”Ή Fluctuating water pressure

A properly functioning PRV helps extend the life of your plumbing system and can prevent costly repairs down the road.

If you're experiencing water pressure issues, our team can help determine whether your PRV is functioning properly.

Industry Advocacy in Action

We're pleased to share that Brittany Manulak, Principal of Concept Mechanical Group Ltd. and MCABC Board Member, has been actively involved in discussions surrounding the proposed Construction Prompt Payment Act (CPPA) regulations.

At MCABC's Day on the Legislature, Brittany joined fellow Board Directors and staff in meeting with the Honourable Bowinn Ma, Minister of Infrastructure, and ministry representatives to reinforce the importance of prompt payment legislation and its impact on contractors throughout British Columbia.

Prompt payment legislation is an important step toward ensuring fair, timely payment practices within the construction industry, helping contractors, suppliers, and trades maintain healthy cash flow and continue delivering quality work across the province.

The recent release of the Construction Prompt Payment Act Discussion Paper marks the beginning of the consultation process that will help shape the regulations moving forward. MCABC will continue collaborating with industry partners and government representatives to ensure the final regulations are practical, enforceable, and reflect the realities faced by contractors and tradespeople.

We are proud to see Brittany representing both our company and the mechanical contracting industry in these important conversations.

To learn more and review the Discussion Paper, visit MCABC's website.

Vancouver, B.C. β€” Yesterday afternoon, the Ministry of Infrastructure released the Construction Prompt Payment Act (CPPA) Discussion Paper, along with a formal invitation to consult.
