You know what your pool normally sounds like. So when the pump starts humming, rattling, grinding or just sounds louder than usual, pay attention.

Sometimes it can be something fairly simple, like debris or an issue with water flow. Other times, a new noise can be an early warning that something needs attention.

The important thing is not to ignore it for the rest of the season and hope it makes it to closing.

What to know after a storm hits.

A heavy summer storm can do more to your pool than dump a bunch of leaves into it.

Rainwater and debris can affect your pool’s chemistry, water level and sanitizer balance.

After a significant storm, remove debris, empty your baskets, check the water level and make sure everything is circulating properly.

Then test your water.

It may look perfectly fine and still be out of balance.

Is That Water Loss Normal… or Do You Have a Leak?

Pools naturally lose some water through evaporation, especially during hot, sunny and windy weather.

But if you’re suddenly topping your pool up much more often than usual, it’s worth paying attention.

Keep an eye out for water levels dropping unusually quickly, wet areas around the pool or equipment, air entering the system or changes in how your pump is operating.

Sometimes there’s a simple explanation. Other times, your pool may be telling you something needs attention.

If something doesn’t seem right, ask us. That’s what we’re here for.
