Pride weekend is here, and Sinnott Electric is looking forward to celebrating with our community! 🌈⚡️

Come out to the Pride Parade at 11:30 and keep an eye out for the Sinnott Electric float, along with all the amazing humans walking with us. And who knows, you might even be one of the lucky people to leave the parade with some sweet Sinnott Electric merch!

After the parade, come hang out with us at Pride at the Park! Sinnott Electric is incredibly proud to be a sponsor for the third year in a row and to continue supporting an event that brings so much love, joy, and community to the Comox Valley.

You’ll also see me out and about enjoying the festivities all weekend, so if you spot me, please come say hi! I’m looking forward to connecting, celebrating, and sharing a whole lot of Pride with everyone.

We’re proud to show up, celebrate, and support everyone in being exactly who they are. I can’t wait to see everyone out and about this weekend. Happy Pride! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Ever wonder what service electricians are doing in your attic in the middle of summer?… Apparently taking selfies to compare just how much sweat is pouring out of us on any given day 😂

But seriously, attic temperatures can easily feel 10–30°C hotter than it is outside, and sometimes the job still needs to get done. At Sinnott Electric, we don’t shy away from the tough jobs. Hot attics and uncomfortable spaces come with the territory. We take pride in showing up, putting in the work, and getting the job done right.

And your friendly reminder to stay hydrated out there during these hot days. Nobody wants to come home and find a human-shaped puddle where their electrician used to be 😂

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and leave the attic crawling to us. ⚡️

⚡ A little longer of a post today, but this is an important one for homeowners and renters ⚡️

Have you ever wondered why arc-fault breakers were developed or why older Federal Pioneer electrical panels are often recommended for replacement?

Electrical connections can loosen and deteriorate over time. When this happens, electricity can begin to arc across the poor connection, generating significant heat. Without the appropriate protection to detect and interrupt the circuit, this can lead to melted wiring, damaged devices and electrical boxes, and potentially ignite nearby combustible materials.

In the past two weeks, Sinnott Electric has been called to two homes where we discovered significant heat and arcing damage caused by older crimp-style wire connections that had deteriorated over time.

Both homes were built in the late 1970s to early 1980s, both had Federal Pioneer electrical panels, and in both cases, the breakers did not trip despite the significant heat and damage occurring at the connections.

This is one reason electrical protection has evolved, including the use of arc-fault protection in many areas of modern homes, and why older Federal Pioneer panels are often recommended for evaluation and replacement.

This post isn’t meant to scare anyone it’s about awareness. Electrical systems are often out of sight and out of mind, and issues can develop over decades of use.

⚠️ Warning signs to watch for:

• Flickering or dimming lights
• Unexplained power loss in areas of your home
• Power cutting out and returning when devices are plugged in or unplugged
• A melting or burning plastic smell
• Warm, discoloured, buzzing or crackling switches or receptacles

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, or live in an older home and aren’t sure about your electrical system, consider having it inspected.

Contact Sinnott Electric to book a full-home electrical inspection. We can assess your system, identify potential issues, and help you understand what, if anything, needs attention.

🤔 Something interesting we learned today… 🤔

As electricians, we’re always keeping an eye on what’s happening in the EV world, and we recently came across something we hadn’t heard much about before.

Grizzl-E has a program called Grizzl-E Club that allows eligible charger owners to earn rewards based on their EV charging usage. The program is built around Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations and shares a portion of the value generated by EV charging with participating members.

A few things that caught our attention:

🇨🇦 Designed and manufactured in Canada

⚡ Eligible new and existing charger owners can participate

💰 Members can earn rewards based on charging activity

🔒 No monthly membership fees were listed in the program information we reviewed

🎨 Let’s be honest — they’re also one of the better-looking EV chargers on the market. Clean, simple, and built to handle Canadian weather.

We are not affiliated with Grizzl-E, not sponsored by Grizzl-E, and this is not an advertisement. We simply came across the program, thought it was interesting, and wanted to share it with our customers and community.

At Sinnott Electric, we believe in sharing useful information, whether it’s about electrical safety, energy savings, or new technology that could benefit our customers.

If you’re an EV owner or considering making the switch it may be worth taking a look.

Three days of catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, learning, laughing, and filling my cup in ways I didn’t realize I needed.

When you’re busy running a business, raising kids, and trying to keep all the balls in the air, it’s easy to get stuck in your own little bubble. Spending a weekend surrounded by people who genuinely understand the challenges, celebrate the wins, and cheer each other on is a reminder of how important community really is.

The presentations and professional development were great, but the people were my favourite part. The conversations between sessions, the random check-ins, the hugs, the shared experiences, and the connections that happen when you bring together a group of people who care about lifting each other up.

And of course, the laughter. The kind that comes from finally letting your guard down, being completely yourself, and sharing a moment with people who make you feel comfortable enough to do exactly that.

A huge thank you to Build a Dream and BCIT ConnectHER Hub for creating spaces where people can show up as themselves, build meaningful connections, and leave feeling inspired, supported, and energized.

To everyone I met this weekend, thank you for sharing your stories.

To the familiar faces, thank you for always making it feel like coming home.

My social battery is officially dead, but my heart is very, very full. 💜

People see the finished install, but not always the work behind it. 📡⚡

This one meant time spent moving around a metal roof in the sun, crawling through attic spaces, and taking the extra time to keep the install as clean as possible without visible wires everywhere.

If you’re looking for clean wire concealment without having to deal with the attic crawls and roof work yourself, we’ve got you covered.

Definitely worth it for the final result. 🌊

Some installs you finish, pack up, and head home from.
Others make you stop in the street for a minute just to take it all in.

I am insanely proud of this one.

The goal was clean, seamless, architectural lighting that looks intentional on the home not overdone, not distracting, just the right balance of warmth and detail. Seeing it all come together like this is such a good feeling.

Massive thank you to the homeowners for trusting the vision.

✈️ Sinnott Electric does Alberta ✈️

There’s exterior lighting…and then there’s this 😍

This one hit a little different because this client isn’t just a client, they’re family……no pressure or anything 😬

Clean lines, tight corners, and a Watts Lights install that blends right into the architecture until you open the app and it completely transforms the home.

From soft white to full color, everything is fully controlled right from your phone, set it, schedule it, change it whenever you want. Built to look good year round, not just for the holidays.

Also, a special shoutout to my dad who stepped in as my apprentice for this one, I think he might be ready to switch careers now 👀⚡️
