The Native Plant Nursery recently hosted a Plant Identification Course put on by Tannas Environmental (https://www.tannasenvironmental.com/course/annual-plant-id/). The content included teachings about grasses, flowers, shrubs and trees in various local topographies both forest and wetland. Nupqu staff from the Nursery, Forestry, Environmental and Archaeology departments were able to participate as the ability to correctly identify the nature around us for worksites is incredibly valuable in environmental reclamation and sustainability.

Nupqu is now offering Canadian Red Cross First Aid Certification for Basic and Intermediate levels!

Happy Canada Day from all of us at Nupqu!

On July 1st, we celebrate the people, cultures, communities, and landscapes that make Canada such a special place to call home.

As we enjoy this day of celebration, we also take time to reflect on the diverse histories, traditions, and contributions that have shaped our country. We are grateful to live and work within the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples and remain committed to building respectful relationships and a stronger future together.

In collaboration with our parent company Ktunaxa Enterprises Ltd and sister company Kettle River Contracting, Nupqu was proud to sponsor and participate in the annual St. Eugene Golf Tournament!

This event supports the Ktunaxa Nation Traditional Knowledge and Language Sector, helping to preserve and strengthen Ktunaxa culture, language, and traditions for future generations.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our owners, clients, and stakeholders while supporting an important initiative that contributes to the ongoing vitality of the Ktunaxa Nation.

Field season is here! The Nupqu staff has been busy taking the time to refresh and strengthen our safety training. A strong season starts with a strong safety culture!

From reviewing trailer towing procedures to reinforcing hazard awareness, safety remains at the core of everything we do.

Nupqu proudly recognizes and celebrates the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples. We honor their unique knowledge, traditions, perspectives, and remain committed to ongoing learning, understanding, and reconciliation.

ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

Join in a celebration of Indigenous culture, including drumming, dancing, beading, pine needle weaving, traditional games, and more.

When: June 18, 5 – 7 p.m.

Where: Lakeshore Campground (3151 BC-95, Windermere)

Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it First Nation National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

The 30th Annual Indigenous Day Celebration and Border Walk at Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it Administration building (5500 Village Loop Road).
Come to share in outdoor games, a moccasin demonstration, hide tanning display, and drumming. Dinner will be provided.

When: June 21, 9:15 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Roosville Border to start and then Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it Administration building (5500 Village Loop Road).

Details: The Border Walk at the Roosville Border will take place from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and be followed by a Celebration at the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it Administration building. Drum circles, dancing, kids’ games, bouncy castle, face painting, and local vendors. Lunch will be provided at noon. A Stick Games tournament will begin at 5 p.m.

Shuswap Band National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration
Immerse yourself in a celebration with traditional games/presentation, medicinal plant/tea station, info tents, and Indigenous merchants market. BBQ by donation and door prizes.

When: June 21, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: Shuswap Band Health Centre (9975 Kinbasket Trail, Invermere)
