This is an excellent article about the warning signs and causes of electrical fires. Maintaining an electrical system is more important than most people realize. A loose switch or outlet needs to be identified and replaced immediately or you are literally playing with fire. Also, if you notice that your pot lights turn off on there own and turn back on a few minutes later please stop using them until you have them checked by an electrician. That is a sign of overheating usually caused by an improper installation.
