Have an open concept home with just baseboard or infloor heating or if you just need a couple rooms cooled/heated the ductless split unit can do both. Depending on efficiency model can heat down to -30c and chop down on that hydro bill in the cold months and cool in the summer with max efficiency, you get the both worlds. Perfect for cabins, offices, bedrooms etc and anywhere you don’t have ductwork.
Central Air Cool only/Heat Pump unit is the same concept, but with ductwork. The heat pump looks like a central cooling unit, but with the benefit of heating your home. Rather than using electric elements in your furnace, gas in your gas furnace or electric boiler to heat a coil these slash the energy used by taking less juice to do the job and you still have the benefit of the primary heat when you need it.
My favorite so far is the hybrid ductless split central air style heat pump. As seen in the picture with “HiSense” on the unit. It utilizes the efficiency and high noise reduction of the ductless split system, but uses the Evaporator coil of the central air type with ductwork.
