Sad to say I have shut my company down after many years of buisness. It has been a great run, I have completed many interesting projects, met lots of amazing people and trades, and had a great time.

The economy has changed, and my specific model of business was not sustainable. Buisness was up, and costs of running a business have for the most part doubled since 2020 and without the increase in pricing there was only one option for me.

This is not a complaint, this is my way of saying goodby to this part of my experience and moving on to the next.

Getting another truck ready for the snow season. New blade mounting brackets for the ford 550. Sander is installed and working blade is last item on list.

Looks like it’s getting close to winter season again. Hoping we get summer into October, but Mother Nature calls the shots.

Gearing up for the 2022 summer season. If anyone has a small or large landscaping job they want to get done, contact me with the details and I can get a quote to you before the season fills up. I have two bobcats and a a dump truck, so Not only can I get your project done, I can deliver or remove dirt rock and loam from your site.

I have changed my business plan this year, I am downsizing as keeping 3 full time employees busy and profitable in this economy is taking to much of my time away from the actual hands on with the jobs. That Benefits my clients, as they will be seeing me on all the jobs as I will be the only main employee and hiring only to help me on bigger jobs, not to do jobs for me.

My business is affected daily by weather and temperature, people always ask me what I think is coming for weather, I have just as much trouble following the forecast as all of you. I try to be prepared, which happens from time to time. What I am always prepared for is having lots of fuel in the tank during winter and extra warm clothes with me when I’m working. I do feel we are in for another cold week like the forecast says, but I’m still not sure how much of the snow accumulation is accurate.

I only have commercial snow contracts, and if anyone is aware of a business in crossfield or Airdrie that is I need of a one time service or a monthly contract for either plowing snow or needing sanding( salt and small rock mix for traction) pass my info to them.

Finally got quad to site last week with plow on front and liquid ice sprayer on back. Works awesome and saves a lot of time.

What a winter, I’m used to plowing actual snow by this time. So far it’s been clearing walk of drifts and melting what’s left before it freezes.

Also a thanks to a wonderful wife, Lorna who supports me on those long night shifts and step son Devon who makes sure I get the mechanical problems fixed correctly.

Pengwyn Bobcat is a family oriented business, owner Marlowe Penner operating equipment on the job sites. The last few years in the summer months, have been spent working with larger excavation company’s on new homes in calgary, cochrane, airdrie and crossfield areas. We mainly concentrated on backfilling new home foundations, pre grading and loaming new houses to city plot plan elevations, and prepping and installing gravel for gravel parking pads. Winters have been mainly snow removal and backfills for new house foundations.
