On January 15, the Atlantic Masonry Institute was proud to host a Professional Learning Day for anglophone high schools in New Brunswick that offer bricklaying as part of their skilled trades curriculum.
The event was graciously hosted by Moncton High School , and we are very thankful for their support and for providing the space to make the day possible. We also extend our sincere thanks to the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for Government of New Brunswick for their partnership in bringing educators and students together.
The day welcomed 5 teachers from across the province and 10 high school students who have shown a strong interest in masonry. The full-day training session was led by two experienced Red Seal bricklayers from Acadia Bricklayers Ltd., whose expertise and mentorship were invaluable.
Participants began with basic trowel skills and demonstrations, then progressed to hands-on practice using a modified version of the Skills Canada New Brunswick-Compétences Canada N.-B. Provincial Secondary Competition project.
We hope everyone had a great experience, learned new skills, and had some fun along the way. When the provincial competition rolls around, we’re confident New Brunswick will have strong representation and great competition ahead! 🧱💪
