We are so excited to celebrate our friends at the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre (MNFC) who have finally received Federal support for this important community project.

The proposed centre addresses their growing need for an accessible public space located in the heart of the city. With complex and overlapping public and private needs, the resulting purpose-built building will better serve the growing and diverse Indigenous urban population—a vision that has been of considerable effort and energy for MNFC’s administration and board for the past 15 years.

The design for the new facility includes a central courtyard space for cultural celebrations, a prominent corner gathering space, medicinal gardens, and showcases Mi’kmaw cultural themes that were developed through an open design process with the organization and community leaders.
