An update on our 1908 to Net-Zero project, repost via Deep Green Developments ⬇️
Framing has wrapped up on both houses and now we’re moving to a big part of 1908 to Net-Zero that will make it , the envelope.
In a high-performance wall, every layer has a role:
• Cavity insulation: batt insulation in the stud cavity, with SIGA Majrex 200 on the interior side as the smart vapour retarder.
• Air and weather barrier: SIGA Majvest 500 SA, a self-adhered, vapour-permeable membrane over plywood sheathing, so walls can dry in Vancouver’s climate.
• Exterior insulation: 6” of Rockwool mineral wool, as mandated by Vancouver’s fire setback under 1.2 m.
• Thermal break: Cascadia’s fibreglass clips, which interrupt the thermal path where cladding fastens to the structure.
• Cladding: Longboard ECO lap siding for a character look, made from 50% recycled aluminum, durable, and recyclable again at end of life.
• Windows: Vinyltek triple-pane in multi-chamber vinyl frames.
Glazing cuts heat loss, the frames limit conduction, and SIGA tape seals the perimeter.
The blower door test is where we find out how well it works together. All on camera 🎥 for Episode 5—coming soon!
