Four floods. One important reminder about preventative maintenance.

A B.C. condo owner experienced four floods in just seven months after blockages developed in the buildingā€™s common-property kitchen pipes and stacks. Water was forced back up through her kitchen sink and into the unit. The Civil Resolution Tribunal found the strata had failed to follow recommended preventative maintenance, including regular pipe flushing, and ruled that its reactive response after each flood wasnā€™t enough.

The case is a good reminder for strata councils and property managers: regular plumbing maintenance can help catch problems before they turn into costly water damage.
