Our Build Together - Women of the Building Trades of Alberta team is awarding two $1,000 apprentice bursaries! 💵

To be eligible, you must:

🛠️ Be a registered apprentice in any year.
💪 Be a member in good standing of a BTA-affiliated union.
✉️ Get a Letter of Support from your union hall confirming you’re in good standing and why they recommend you.

The first week of our Structural Ironworker Gladiator class has been a success. Students are learning to read drawings, basic knots, rigging and assembly of structural steel mock-ups. The second week will test their skills as they erect a large scale steel mock-up structure. Thank you to our partners Oil Sands Alliance for supporting this great program.

🇨🇦🕊️ IRONWORKERS LOCAL 720 – HONOURING OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS 🕊️🇨🇦

On behalf of Ironworkers Local 720, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fellow service members of the four Canadian Armed Forces soldiers who tragically lost their lives during a training exercise at CFB Wainwright.

Today, we honour and remember:

🇨🇦 Sergeant Morgan Wong
🇨🇦 Private Shaun Farrell
🇨🇦 Private Aidan Goulding
🇨🇦 Private Hayden Lykkemark

Their lives were tragically cut short, leaving behind grieving families, friends, and a nation mourning their loss.

Our thoughts are also with the 39 injured service members as they recover.

As ironworkers, we understand the importance of brotherhood, solidarity, and standing together in difficult times. Today, we stand united with our Canadian Armed Forces community.

May their courage, dedication, and service never be forgotten.

From the officers, executive, and membership of Ironworkers Local 720, we offer our heartfelt condolences.

We first met Eileen in our oxyfuel cutting and welding class that we deliver with our partners Alberta Construction Training Institute and MCG Careers Inc. Eileen showed a passion for welding and continued to develop her skills in our weld shop. She successfully achieved multiple CWB certifications and recently landed a job as a welding apprentice in a local fab shop.
Congratulations Eileen, you have a bright future in the skilled trades.

The reinforcing Ironworker gladiator class is now complete. Students now have hand skills and experience building mats, beams columns, walls and other reinforcing structures. Thank to our partners Oil Sands Alliance for helping make this class a success. Look for these new apprentices on a work site soon.
