Our WERC Calgary team recently welcomed a former participant back for our weekly Career Conversations, where they shared their journey through the program and into employment.

It was great to see current participants asking questions and hearing firsthand from someone who has been in their shoes. Hearing where their journey has taken them is a meaningful reminder of where hard work and the right support can lead.

Our WERC Red Deer participants had the opportunity to visit Krenzler Fabrication and Welding Inc, where they got hands-on experience with Metal Inert Gas welding and learned more about the tools and technology used in the industry.

The group also had the chance to see a CNC plasma cutter in action and learn more about how this equipment is used in fabrication. It was a great opportunity to practise new skills, explore the industry, and learn directly from professionals in the field.

A big thank you to Krenzler Fabrication and Welding for welcoming our participants and providing such a valuable hands-on learning experience! 🧡

Ballad partnered with Alberta Forestry and Parks to assess the current and future needs of its staff housing portfolio across the province.

Our team inspected more than 200 housing assets, gathered feedback from staff, and analyzed the findings to identify key challenges and opportunities. From there, we developed practical recommendations to help AFP plan for housing repairs, replacements, expansion, and long-term needs.

This work gives AFP the information and direction needed to make informed decisions, support its staff, and plan for the future.

Our Red Deer team was excited to host our 2nd Annual Job Skills Rodeo, where participants had the opportunity to connect with employers, explore different industries, and take part in hands-on demonstrations.

Our WERC Grande Prairie Hospitality participants recently stepped into the role of restaurant servers, learning how to set both basic and casual table settings before putting their skills to the test in a mock restaurant exercise.

From taking orders to entering them into a point-of-sale (POS) system, participants gained valuable, real-world experience while developing the customer service and hospitality skills that employers are looking for.
