DIAVIK MINE CLOSURE
Nuna’s Long History at the Site

The Diavik Diamond Mine is scheduled to finish commercial ore production on March 24, 2026, after 23 years of successful operations.

Diavik, Canada’s second major diamond mine, is located at Lac de Gras, NT, approximately 280 km north of Yellowknife, NT. Nuna’s involvement began in 1998 with advanced exploration support through construction and has continued into several years of operation activities. Our scopes over the years have included:

• Winter Access Road (1998-Present)
• Early Works (1998-2000)
• North Inlet D**e (2001)
• A154 D**e Works (2001-2002)
• A418 D**e Works (2005-2006)
• PKC Dam Works (2007-2009)
• A21 D**e Works (2015-2018)
• Equipment Operators & Labourer Support (2019-Present)

Nuna is extremely proud to have been involved at every stage of this mine’s impressive life in the North. On behalf of all of us, we’d like to thank Diavik for the opportunities and collaboration over the years.

Congratulations to the entire Diavik team, past and present, on this amazing accomplishment!

HAPPY NUNAVUT DAY!

Before the creation of Nunavut in 1999, there were only two Canadian territories: Northwest Territories and Yukon. In the most significant geographical change in Canada’s history, the separation of Nunavut from the Northwest Territories resulted in an area comprising 21% of the total area - land and water - of Canada.

On July 9, we celebrate Nunavut Day and the strength and resilience of the Inuit in Canada. Inuit value flexibility and ingenuity, while also showing great respect to elders and ancient traditions. Nunavut’s majority Inuit population use their language, practice their culture, and represent themselves with their traditional symbols. In Nunavut, the Inuit are self-governing, meaning they have a substantial amount of political power over themselves and how they live, which is perfectly represented by the word Nunavut – ᓄᓇᕗᑦ – "Our Land" in Inuktitut.

NUNA & NUNAVUT
Nuna is majority Inuit-owned by Kitikmeot Corporation, the economic development arm of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, based in Cambridge Bay, NU. Our name comes from the Inuktitut word for land.

We were initially established as a logistics company to haul powder and cement to Lupin Gold Mine in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. From there we were provided the opportunity to build the airstrip at Ekati, then the seasonal winter ice road to the diamond mines, and the rest is history. No matter how much we expand our services throughout Canada, our roots will always remain in the North and Nunavut.
