These photos highlight the difference between an unsealed concrete driveway (left side) and a sealed one (right side).
The right side of the driveway has been professionally cleaned, groomed, and treated with a high-quality water-based sealer. You can see how the sealed concrete has a slightly richer finish and repels water effectively, helping to protect it from moisture absorption, freeze-thaw cycles, staining, and surface wear. This protection slows down cracking, prevents spalling, and guards against the harsh effects of road salts and chemicals — especially important in Alberta's climate.
The left side, which remains untreated, looks duller and more porous. Over time, unsealed concrete like this is much more vulnerable to moisture pe*******on, cracking, surface damage, and overall deterioration.
Sealing isn’t just cosmetic — it’s a key step in preserving the strength, durability, and appearance of your concrete, saving you money on costly repairs or replacements in the future.
