Casement or Slider Windows: Which One Is Right for Your Home?

Choosing a window style is not only about appearance. It can also affect ventilation, comfort, ease of use, and how well your windows perform during an Alberta winter.

Casement windows open outward with a crank. When closed, the sash presses firmly against the seals, helping reduce air leakage. They provide excellent ventilation and are a strong choice for living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Slider windows move horizontally along a track. They are easy to operate, practical for basements, and ideal for areas where an outward-opening window could interfere with a deck, walkway, or landscaping. They can also be a more budget-friendly option for larger openings.

There is no single best choice for every home. The right window depends on the room, opening size, ventilation needs, exposure to wind, and budget.

Canglow Windows & Doors offers custom energy-efficient casement and slider windows, professional installation by our in-house crews, and a lifetime product warranty.

Before & After: A Front Entrance Transformation

A new entry door can completely change the look and feel of a home.

For this project, we replaced the old front door and storm door with a clean, modern entry system featuring decorative glass and a new sidelight. The result is a brighter, more welcoming entrance with improved comfort, security, and curb appeal.

But a door upgrade isn’t just about appearance. A properly fitted and professionally installed exterior door can also help reduce drafts and heat loss, especially during Alberta’s colder months.

At Canglow Windows & Doors, we manufacture our own entry doors and install them with our in-house installation teams.
