PREPARING FOR WINTER Yesterday along with everything else we found time to get the greenhouse all cleaned up and ready for the next crop. Sad to see it empty but boy did it ever produce for us this yr. The fig trees are still producing tons of figs so it's still actively working. And we got our winter cloths line up! PRESERVING TIME This mornings first frost on the northshore of Lake Erie is just the poke we need to feed our energy. Yesterday we picked cherry tomatoes for 7hrs straight (cpl hundred pounds?) and hardly made a dent as you can see. We also spent 9hrs in the kitchen processing and boiling down and canning pasta sauce. Yes it was a long day. That's what makes your own food better. You know exactly what's in it including the blood,sweat and tears lol. 2 more days of picking and processing tomatoes left at least. And thats just maters lol. How you all making out with your harvest? .ca
