Does your home have GFCI outlets installed in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room yet?

GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlets constantly monitor the level of electricity flowing through a circuit. When a loss of current is sensed, the outlet is tripped and the outlet's electrical supply is cut within 20 to 30 milliseconds. This protects you from getting an electrical shock.

Moisture and dampness are 2 of the biggest causes of ground faults, which will cause a loss of current (and trip your GFCI outlet). That's why, by law, GFCI outlets are required to be installed in any area subject to moisture, including outdoors. But many older homes are still without them.

GFCI outlets are important for your family's safety and the safety of your home. If your house doesn't have them installed in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room, it's a good idea to get in touch with a licensed electrician and make the switch now.
