This is a good article on floor heating for DYI people.

I would add that the tile contractors don't for the most part use self-leveling anymore. It's expensive and messy. They use an anti-fracture membrane and put the wire into the grooves. They can then tile right away saving them the trip. Our floor cable is one of the smallest on the market allowing it to fit into almost every anti-fracture membrane on the market.

This is a good video explaining what happens in offices as it relates to comfort - something most designers ignore. I like the comment towards the end, "you can move to an area where the radiant heat is warmer". If builders, architects, and engineers use radiant ceiling heating systems, they can avoid all these issues or at least reduce them to easy-to-manage issues. If you notice, the woman is sitting on a large air duct designed to blow glass on the window to reduce the cold at that spot. A radiant ceiling panel system eliminates that floor wasting duct and significantly improves the cold window. Something to think about.
