Northern Black Ducks are one of the most sought-after ducks to hunt of all the birds; they have very sharp eyesight and will flare at any sight of danger. These mini blacks were fun to make; they were my first ever small blacks.

Working on a bunch of miniature Goldeneyes, have only done one drake in 2007, which is in this picture. These birds are among my favourites to hunt and carve. Memories of hunting late fall on the St. Lawrence River in the harsh cold, that's when they flew and decoyed the best.

Working on a pair of hooded grebes, never ever have I carved a grebe bird; this is the first. They are quite a pretty little marsh bird. I read they are going extinct, not good...
