We are so sorry to say this, but it might be time to start putting your air conditioner to bed for the season.

We are also very hopeful that posting this guarantees us another stretch of beautiful summer weather.

When you are finished with your AC for the year, take a few minutes to clear away grass, leaves, and other debris from around the outdoor unit. Keeping the area around it clear helps protect the equipment and leaves it ready for next cooling season.

While you are outside saying goodbye to summer, you might also want to make sure your furnace preventative maintenance is booked.

We hope we are completely wrong about summer being over, but this is Grande Prairie, so it never hurts to be ready.

Does your furnace smell a little funny the first time you turn it on for the season?

We get this call a lot, so here is your annual reminder that a slight dusty or burning smell can happen when your furnace first starts up after sitting unused for months.

Dust can settle on components while the furnace is not being used, and you may smell it as that dust heats up for the first time. The smell should not stick around for long.

If the smell continues, becomes stronger, smells electrical, or you notice smoke or anything else that concerns you, turn the furnace off and give us a call.

Since you are thinking about your furnace anyway, this is also a good time to make sure your preventative maintenance is booked before the heating season gets busy.
