3RDLINE.STUDIO INC stands on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabe peoples of the Robinson Huron Treaty, traditionally shared by the people of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Wahnapitae First Nation and Sagamok Anishnawbek.

In honour of Indigenous History month, we honour and recognize Indigenous peoples as the traditional stewards of the lands which we share today, and we gratefully acknowledge their historic and contemporary contributions to the guardianship of this land and the contributions made in shaping and strengthening our community.

We work closely with many First Nations communities. We understand the importance of building cultural significance, tradition and their influence on the design of a building. Our team believes that the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers is a way of working in all aspects of life. Our work with First Nation communities relies on leaders, communities and shared indigenous knowledge. We listen, research and apply culturally significant ideologies to all our buildings.

This interior renovation focused on developing a next-generation workspace. Flexible and collaborative workspaces combined with small meeting rooms and private offices support a transition to a combination of onsite and remote work. This approach permitted PHSD to accommodate all 240 staff without increasing the building footprint or energy output. Key elements to the success of this project include strategic spatial arrangement, daylighting, and finishes, particularly glazing, which ensures access to daylighting from all workspaces. Responsive mechanical and electrical systems ensure staff are comfortable in open work areas, offices, meeting rooms, clinics, and public reception spaces.
Additional design considerations included refinement of public and private circulation, creating distinct spaces for security control.
