👉 At Frontiers, approximately 25% of our work is landscape design/build, 50% of our work is renovations and additions, and the remaining 25% is for special multi-unit residential projects for not-for-profit organizations.

We love a backyard redo, but let's not forget about the front of the house 😍

This stunning front yard space played off the fusion of a traditional yellow brick facade with rustic corten steel planters, a modern poured concrete driveway, and an incredible green roof above a newly constructed garage. 🍃

Integrated lighting in the planters illuminates the custom natural stone steps at night. The lush plantings throughout soften and unite the mix of traditional and modern features.

👉 Why Construction Projects Go Over Budget

Budget overruns are often blamed on rising material costs or unforeseen site conditions. But one of the biggest hidden causes is poor coordination between designers and builders.

This semester, Kyle has been a valued part of the Frontiers team as our co-op student, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of skills from framing, insulation, and drywall to the many day-to-day details that bring a project together.

When asked about his experience, Kyle shared:

“Throughout this semester, I learned a lot of valuable skills from framing to insulation and drywall, as well as many other useful skills. The Frontiers team is filled with awesome individuals who helped me learn, improve my skills, and made sure I felt part of the team.”

Project Feature: Bungalow Bistro 👊

This modest bungalow kitchen received a complete transformation that proves high-end functionality isn’t reserved for large floor plans. Within the intimate 11.5′ x 12′ footprint, the space was reimagined to maximize natural light and flow by replacing a small existing window with an expansive new unit and adding a dedicated exterior man door. To anchor the room, a new central island was installed featuring an induction cooktop and a professional direct vent range hood.

While the core plumbing remained in its original location to optimize the budget, the aesthetic was elevated by maintaining the original hardwood floors. This choice provides a warm, durable foundation that can be extended throughout the entire main floor for a unified, seamless transition between rooms.

The result is a sophisticated, efficient kitchen that balances structural upgrades—like new headers and exterior access—with the modern luxuries of a custom gourmet workspace.
