Fruit tree owners: NOW is the time to check for orange spots on the leaves! 👀

The recent heat & humidity has caused rust to start appearing on fruit trees, and it's best to deal with this fungal issue sooner than later.

Happy Pollinator Week!

June 22 - 28, 2026, is a week dedicated to celebrating, supporting, and sharing information about our local pollinators.

This is a great time to add more native plants to your garden, outdoor space, or balcony!

It's also helpful to create a little "bee bath" in a shallow saucer filled with water and some stones, so the bees and other pollinators have somewhere to land while they access clean water.

How to prune your lilac in 3 easy steps:

1️⃣ Remove dead branches

2️⃣ Reduce the height (optional) - note Tanya's guidance for this

3️⃣ Then prune for shape & width, keeping in mind the growth pattern of the branches so the lilac grows in the direction you want

Optionally, deadhead your lilac.

❗️Pruning should be done within a few weeks after blooms end, before the plant sets buds for next year's flowers.

Slugs eating your veggies & plants? 👉 Get rid of slugs & snails 🐌 in your garden with nematodes.

Easy to use -- flip open the cap, shake the pearls into the infested region, and spray with water 💦

An excellent, natural, organic way to save your plants from getting eaten in specific areas.

What to do if your plants have black spot 👀

Keep an eye on your roses, crab apple, fruit trees, dogwood, magnolia, and phlox for this.

We love this natural spray -- it repels 🦟mosquitoes & ticks effectively from your yard for up to a MONTH! 😯

The garlic odour is not smelly to humans about 30 minutes after spraying, but mosquitoes can still detect it ✅️

For bird baths, add a small amount of canola oil alongside this.

We are excited to help make the stage greener and prettier with a variety of shrubs from Royal City Nursery

The Festival Guelph & District Multicultural Festival starts today and runs all weekend long - go check it out for some fantastic cultural performances, delicious food, live music, kids' activities and more.
