Another day, another door. This one is a replacement door in a beautiful old home undergoing extensive renovations. The door is solid mahogany and features Simulated Divided Lites ( actually just one large insulated glass pane), a self-sealing mechanical drop down door sweep that is perfect for old homes to keep the drafts down, one solid raised panel,and an old school weatherboard that helps run rainwater away from the threshold. A simple, yet classic design that I never get tired of. Beautiful!

So, I built my first Stave Core exterior door. As this was a new process, I decided to build it for a rather easy going client- myself! Finally, a new front door! Wood species is White Oak finished with a clear hard wax/ oil with UV and mildew protection. Features include double split raised panels, weatherboard, brush style sweep, and 4 1/2” solid polished brass hinges. Now I just need to figure out a new door k**b.

My latest project completed- a custom floating vanity for a new client building a new home. The stone top is soapstone sourced from Victory Stone . It’s treated with a stone sealer to bring out the rich colors. The cabinets are solid white oak with a ebonizing treatment of quebracho tea and iron acetate to achieve a durable and deep rich black color. Joinery for the cabinets is traditional sliding dovetails. Drawer boxes are finger jointed white oak with a hard wax / oil finish and the pulls are handmade polished brass.
