We are looking for one highly organized, detail oriented, motivated, independent, smart, introverted and antisocial person for an entry level position as a Marine Cargo Surveyor.
The successful applicant:
Will be able to follow and execute instructions
Will have strong observation skills
Will have above average writing skills (descriptive)
Will not need to be part of a team - we work alone.
Will not need socialization opportunities at work, we have found the best people for this role like to keep to themselves.
The successful applicant will work on average 2-2.5 days per week (16-20 hours on site) depending, largely, on your personal efficiency and organization.
Some weeks you will work 4-5 days, some weeks you will not have any work, you are paid either way.
Pay is every Thursday.
Primary Job:
On the key day, you will attend Autoport, Eastern Passage and you will count vehicles as they are discharged from the vessel.
You will be responsible to keep pace with the Longshoremen discharging cargo from the ship and be able, at any time, to relay the number of vehicles discharged for each manufacturer.
You will also be expected to maintain a series of observational time logs while on site.
24-36 hours after completion of discharge you will return to the facility with an exception list. You will identify vehicles by VIN against this list and photograph/quantify the exceptions. This attendance and reporting should take a maximum of 4 hours if you are task focused.
All photos will be uploaded to our Dropbox account.
The exception list will require some very basic use of Excel and adobe
You will provide your own computer for excel/adobe (which you will write off against income)
You will provide your own internet connection (which you will write off against income)
You will provide your own cell phone (which you will write off against income)
You will have your own, reliable all-weather vehicle: bus, bike, taxi, Uber, walking to work won’t suffice. You will claim your kilometers driven against income.
You will work outside, you will work some days, some evenings, some holidays and some weekends. This is the shipping industry and ships arrive and work outside of M-F 9-5, generally, however, there is a preference to operate from 9-5m-f as the “lowest cost” option.
You will work in rain, snow, sun. You will need to dress accordingly.
You will have to wear steel toe boots (you supply), safety vest (we supply) and safety glasses (we supply) in addition to your chosen regular workwear (no shorts allowed on site)
You will work with little to no supervision at your own pace so long as discharge times are met. You will determine your own breaks and meal hours. You will not be micromanaged, when work is done, you go and do whatever you like, we don’t run fixed hours and we do not maintain an office; we are entirely virtual.
Some bodywork or detailing experience would be useful.
Must be Bondable with no criminal background.
