HI, ANGEL! I'VE HEARD YOU DEAL WITH DOOM PILES! WHAT IS A DOOM PILE?
A Doom Pile (also known as an Anxiety Heap, a Worry Closet and others) in its classic form is a literal pile where everything goes when you don't have a place for it, or the mental energy to deal with it. They are however a diverse class of beast, and come in many flavours: boxes needing unpacking, closets needing organizing, junk needing removal, and so many more. The central quality that all these things have in common is that they loom larger in our minds than they have any right to.
THIS SOUNDS SCARY! DO I HAVE DOOM PILES?
Some of us are very organized, and Doom Piles don't really occur except during times of extreme stress or heavy activity. Most of us, though, have Doom Piles accumulate at some frequency in our day to day lives. If you find yourself putting off necessary chores or maintenance tasks for more than a day or two regularly, it's highly likely you've got at least one Doom Pile accumulating somewhere.
I THINK I HAVE DOOM PILES. HOW CAN I PREVENT THEM TAKING UP SO MUCH OF MY MENTAL ENERGY?
Well, the best recommendation I could give you would be to work hard and use the experience as an opportunity to develop your organizational skills, but sometimes, due to life circumstances, mental or physical illness, disability, or other factors, we fall behind and in those situations, the best thing for us is to seek help.
WHO CAN HELP? MY DOOM PILE IS TRULY A MONSTROUS CREATURE!
Ah, now this is where the Q***r Angel of Death comes in. Your Doom Pile may look truly monstrous to you, but to me, it looks like a perfectly manageable, downright domesticated critter. I can just take it out back for you and put it out of its misery.
WHAT KIND OF DOOM PILES CAN YOU HELP WITH?
Well, I'm not a professional, so if you need something that requires a trade certification or a lot of specialized knowledge, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I can do a lot of general maintenance and repair work, though, including:
Drywall repair
Paint touchups
Furniture assembly/disassembly
Junk removal
Yardwork/landscaping
Home cleaning/organizing
Body doubling/personal assistance
And lots more!
THIS SOUNDS EXPENSIVE AND I DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY. ALSO, I AM NEURODIVERGENT AND WORRIED ABOUT SOME ASPECT OF INTERACTING WITH A HANDYPERSON.
