BEFORE & AFTER: A Basement Reimagined

"Why do we need a design for our basement renovation?"

It's one of the first questions our clients ask us at their initial consultation , and it's a great one.

A design is simply a plan to reach a desired goal. That's why, from day one, we have open and honest conversations about how the space will actually be used. Understanding that purpose lets our design team solve the real problems, not just the ones we assumed were there. On the other hand, having a set of plans will allow us to provide more accurate renovation estimates.

This project is a perfect example. Our clients came to us with a specific idea for where the new bathroom should go. But once our design team walked the space and really listened to how the family wanted to live in it, we proposed a different layout . One that was more functional for their day-to-day life. They loved it.
The result? A once-cluttered, underused basement is now the family's favorite hangout spot, complete with a cozy living area, a moody statement bathroom, a private bedroom, and a dedicated laundry room that actually works for them.

Building a Custom Stone Fireplace

This fireplace is part of a full main floor renovation. Our client chose Harvest Gold Tumbled Olde Mill Stone from for its warm color and rough, natural look.

Each stone was picked by hand and placed carefully to make sure the colors and shapes work well together. The fireplace sits between custom built-in shelves and cabinets, and will be the main feature of the living space once finished.

Ensuite Renovation: From Dated to Spa-Inspired

We reimagined a boxed-in ensuite — dark tile, a cramped tub/shower combo, and tired finishes — into an open, curbless walk-in shower wrapped in tile, with a floating double vanity and matte black fixtures throughout.

Highlights include a curbless walk-in shower with hexagon floor tile, full-height tile walls, an oversized rainfall shower head, dual oval mirrors, and a wood vanity.

The result: a calm, elevated space designed for everyday retreat.

A bathroom transformation worth the before & after

This space went from dated and divided to a warm, sophisticated retreat designed with both style and function in mind. The original bathroom featured bulky cabinetry, a raised tub, heavy tilework, and a layout that made the space feel more closed in.

The new design completely changes the experience. Rich wood cabinetry adds warmth and character, while the arched mirrors and brass accents bring a timeless touch. The spacious walk-in shower creates a much more open feel, finished with deep navy tile, a built-in niche, and a glass enclosure that keeps the room feeling bright and spacious.

It’s amazing what thoughtful design and a complete renovation can do for a space.

Here at Monk Renovation, we don't just do big makeovers, we also love doing simple bathroom updates just like this one.

This kitchen renovation project was designed with a specific focus on both functionality and resale value for a family of four. Understanding that this is not their forever home, our clients requested a neutral, simple, and clean aesthetic that would appeal to future buyers while providing them with a comfortable space in the meantime.

The process began with our initial consultation, where Rob and Dan sat down with the family to thoroughly discuss their needs, wants, and long-term goals for the property. By prioritizing this collaboration, we were able to deliver a refreshed, modern kitchen that our clients are very happy with.
