This incredible achievement is a testament to Cordell's hard work, dedication, and skill, and we are proud to see a Nova Scotian excel on the national stage.

HAPPENING TODAY from 2-4pm at the Lawerencetown Education Centre!

The Housing Construction Council is pleased to invite you to attend the combined graduation ceremony for the Lawrencetown Modular Housing Construction Fundamentals (MHCF) Program and the Tiny Home Construction Finishing Fundamentals (THCFF) Program.

Event Details
New Date: May 29, 2026
Time: 2:00 p.m. โ€“ 4:00 p.m.
Location: LEC, 10 Middle Road, Lawrencetown, NS

We would be honoured to celebrate our learners' achievements with you and to recognize the success of both programs.

The Modular Housing Construction Fundamentals program is an 18-week training experience that combines classroom instruction with paid, hands-on work experience. Participants gain practical skills across the structural and finishing phases of housing construction while building complete, two-bedroom, net-zero-ready tiny homes. Training includes framing, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, cladding, trim work, building envelope systems, and introductory mechanical concepts.

The Tiny Home Construction Finishing Fundamentals program is a 10-week training experience that builds on foundational skills and focuses on the detailed finishing work of one-bedroom, net-zero-ready tiny homes. Participants learn the proper use of tools and materials while working on stairs, scaffolding, and detailed interior and exterior components. Training includes installing interior doors and trim, exterior trim and finish, wall and ceiling panelling, and cabinetry.

Both programs also include training in construction math, blueprint reading, building science, and site operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, energy efficiency, and quality workmanship. Participants earn valuable industry-recognized certifications, including First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, fall protection, and scaffolding safety. Additionally, learners receive microcredential badges through Cape Breton University and pre-apprenticeship hours recognized by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, creating strong pathways into the skilled trades.

Beyond the training site, the impact of this cohort extends into the broader community. The homes built through these programs help address the growing need for affordable housing locally.

The graduation ceremony is also an opportunity to learn more about our workforce development and training initiatives and how they support both individuals and industry across the housing sector.

If you have any questions, please reach out. We look forward to celebrating with you.
