On October 8, Oakridge Group welcomed students from Bishop Ryan Catholic High School and Sherwood Public High School for an educational experience focused on the knowledge, technical skills, and career opportunities within the landscape industry.

Eight workstations throughout our property introduced students to proper planting practices, sod installation, mini excavator operation, interlock installation, and more. Through demonstrations and hands-on participation, students explored how careful planning, proper techniques, and safe work practices contribute to successful landscape projects.

The day also highlighted the breadth of our industry, which combines horticulture, construction, equipment operation, and environmental stewardship to create and maintain the spaces that serve our communities.
By connecting classroom learning with practical experience, we hope to help students make informed career choices and recognize landscaping as a valuable and rewarding path within the skilled trades.

A special thank you to the teachers from Bishop Ryan Catholic High School and Sherwood Public High School, LIUNA Local 837, Cooper Equipment Rentals, Permacon, Unilock, Best Way Stone, Greenhorizon Sod Farm, Lawrie Insurance Group, Battlefield Equipment and the International Union of Operating Engineers for helping make this educational day possible.

Thank you as well to the students and our Oakridge team for their enthusiasm and participation!

As the grounds maintenance season begins to wind down, preparation for snow season is already underway.

For our team at Oakridge Group, fall means leaf cleanup, final cuts, preparing planting beds for winter and coordinating irrigation shutdowns. It’s also a chance to assess each property and identify repairs or improvements for next spring.

At the same time, we’re getting ready for snow: servicing equipment, reviewing site plans, confirming snow storage areas, organizing salt supplies and making sure our crews understand their routes and responsibilities.

In this industry, the seasons overlap. A smooth transition takes planning, communication and a team that pays attention to the details.

Proud of our crews for keeping properties looking their best while preparing for the months ahead.

The story of Oakridge Group began with four individuals: Herman Ciardullo, Len Poloniato, Harold McMullen, and Ed Ciardullo.

Together, they were the founding group behind Oakridge, combining their experience, work ethic, and vision to create the company and establish the foundation it stands on today.

What began with these four pioneers has grown significantly over the decades, but the principles they built the company around — hard work, integrity, strong relationships, and pride in their work — continue to define Oakridge Group today.
