We said what we said. We hate black borders around patios.

Not because they’re always wrong, but because they’re often used to create a strong boundary where one doesn’t really need to exist.

We want patios, planting and lawn to feel connected. Instead of outlining the space with a high contrast border, we prefer using changes in tone, texture, patterns and planting to create a more natural transition.

And around pools, there’s another reason. Black materials can get seriously hot in the sun, which isn’t exactly ideal when you’re walking around barefoot.
