Designing for response, resilience, and the City of Mississauga - Municipal Government community!
The form of Mississauga Fire Station 123 was shaped by the current demands of a modern fire station where every design decision must balance operational efficiency, firefighter well-being, site constraints, and long-term sustainability.
These design diagrams illustrate some of the key considerations that informed the building:
• A single-storey layout that supports efficient adjacencies and emergency response
• Strategic apparatus bay placement for streamlined vehicle access and operations
• Clear staff and public entrances connected through intuitive internal circulation
• Carefully positioned windows that bring daylight and views of nature into firefighter living spaces
• A building form that preserves valuable rooftop area for on-site solar energy generation
From massing to daylight, each move works together to create a station designed to support both
high-performance emergency operations and the day-to-day well-being of the firefighters who call it their workplace.
