It isn't uncommon for a client to ask, "can you sharpen your pencil? "

What is a first is a client who pulls out a pencil sharpener and says, "Here, I brought you this so you can sharpen your pencil with."

Good on him to a) have a sense of humour and b) find ways to save money.

Life is expensive. Tree work is expensive. We get that.

We can't always sharpen our pencil.

Our one promise is to find as close to a win/win as possible. A win for our team and a win for our clients.

Nothing else will suffice.

DeVos Tree Care is looking to grow our team with a professional and skilled Crew Lead. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship and professionalism in all interactions with staff, customers, neighbours, and the community.

You will oversee 1–3 staff members and assist with climbing, bucket and crane removals, pruning, planting, cabling, and other arboriculture tasks. You will likely be the senior climber on your crew while delegating responsibilities where appropriate.

✅ Ideal Candidate:
• Minimum 4 years in the field
• Minimum 1 year leading a crew
• Extensive climbing & rigging experience
• Some crane experience
• Familiar with MRS & SRS
• Routine gear/equipment inspection experience
• Valid DZ license in good standing required
• Familiar with CRM software (Jobber an asset)
• ISA Certified or MTCU Qualified Arborists preferred

✅ Duties & Responsibilities:
• Attend weekly safety/training meetings
• Represent the company with professionalism & integrity
• Assist in all aspects of tree surgery including groundwork
• Help train and mentor team members
• Lead crew activities and work sequencing
• Perform other duties as assigned
