A little behind the scenes on a set of custom table bases we’re building for a special client.

To create the curved profile, we CNC cut and stacked multiple layers of MDF to build up the form. Once everything is shaped, sanded and perfected, the entire base will be wrapped in veneer — giving it the appearance of one solid, seamless curved piece.

A lot of work goes into the details you’ll never see in the finished product… but that’s usually what makes the finished product look so simple.

Can’t wait to show these ones finished.

While we’re still working through what happened and don’t yet have all the answers, one thing has become very clear: the support from our community has been incredible.

Tomorrow is a full day of meetings as we continue to understand the path forward. We expect to have more information soon and will keep everyone updated as plans begin to take shape.

This video is the first of many updates as we navigate the road ahead. We want to bring you along for the journey. The challenges, the progress, and ultimately the rebuild of Bateman Fine Cabinetry & the other business within the building.

We’re not sure exactly what the next chapter looks like yet, but we’re committed to moving forward.

Hello everyone,
simcoecounty is now onsite and has officially begun the cleanup process. We’re incredibly grateful for the speed, professionalism, and support from everyone involved so far.

This Monday we have meetings scheduled to determine the next steps for restoring power to our shop and to discuss the future of our showroom space.

The good news? If we can get power back to the facility, our manufacturing operations will continue as normal while we work through rebuilding and improving the showroom.

It’s been a challenging few days, but the support from our customers, suppliers, friends, and community has been overwhelming. We’re focused on moving forward, taking it one step at a time, and coming back stronger than ever.

An update — and another thank you.

We made it through the night, and now that it’s light out we’ve been able to get a real look at things. The most important thing we can tell you: our manufacturing shop is okay. The machinery, the tools, and every project inside are intact and unaffected. If your work is with us, it’s safe.

The damage is almost entirely contained to our showroom and office, which took significant water and smoke and will be closed until further notice. The shop — where the actual building happens — came through. We’re without power at the moment and still need to assess the smoke properly, but the heart of our operation is standing and our clients’ projects are sound.

To the crews from , , , and every responder who showed up last night — we can’t thank you enough. Your fast response and bravery kept the damage contained and kept all of us safe.

And to every client, friend, neighbour, and stranger who has reached out — thank you. It has meant the world.

UPDATE — and a big thank you.

The fire is now under control. Our showroom and office spaces have taken significant water and smoke damage, but our manufacturing shop and everything inside it look to be okay with minimal impact. We’ll need to get inside to assess smoke damage in the shop properly, and we’ll share more as we learn it.

A HUGE thank you to the crews from , , , and every responder who showed up today. Your fast response and bravery kept the damage contained and kept all of us safe. We can’t thank you enough.

This is a tough one to post — but first, the important part: everyone is okay.

Our building is currently on fire. Emergency crews are working hard, and our showroom and offices are closed until further notice while the situation is ongoing. Our team and family are all safe, and that’s what we’re holding onto tonight.
