Here is A Throwback Thursday kind of post. Many moons ago a crew of young Jasper men were contracted to work on a few Backcountry Warden Cabins on the eastern portion of Jasper National Park. If memory serves us it was Garfield Kongsrud who had the contract and hired the boys.
Being the local expert a young Mark Deagle was asked at 27 years old to help the boys out with the logwork on the Moosehorn cabin.
Mark remembers canoeing across the Athabasca and noticing Cougar and grizzly bear tracks on the trail to the jobsite.
Jasper National Park has a great history of log buildings situated throughout the backcountry trails of this big protected area. A big thank you to all the men and women past and present who are carrying on this work maintaining a history of time and place.
Many miles of trail have been traveled by all these men since this photo. Mike Thurston and Terry Knight are no longer with us but if you happen to see Chad Rea today wish him a big ol’ Happy Birthday.
